Our History
In the Seminyak area, there is a humble couple from a farming family, Mr. Santra and Mrs. Rai, who are trying their luck with entrepreneurship. They have opened a stall selling Balinese mixed rice. In their cooking process, they still use a traditional stove with firewood. Within their community, they often assist residents with ceremonies by preparing rice baskets using their traditional stove. Each basket of rice embodies the value of mutual cooperation, essential for supporting the social and religious life in Bali. For years, this couple has consistently helped others.
On one occasion, when their first stall made a profit, they decided to create another business that would uphold humanist values, mutual cooperation, and a strong sense of family, reflecting their way of life. They named this new venture “Wakul Nasi,” which translates to “The Basket Rice” in English. This name is inspired by their social activities, where they sincerely help and give to others. This restaurant is expected to continue embodying these principles. Wakul Nasi is a local restaurant that embodies the spirit of mutual cooperation and a touch of family.
